Check out lovely Putnam Heights homes and find a charming neighborhood less than five miles north of downtown OKC. It’s a quick trip by car on I-235. Like other historic neighborhoods, Putnam Heights real estate was mostly developed in the first half of the 20th century. Several classic architectural styles are represented. There are cozy bungalows, two-story Colonial and Tudors, as well as Georgian and Renaissance examples.
Residents have a lot of house pride, and the interiors have been preserved and thoughtfully updated. You’ll find original hardwood floors, built-in storage, and fireplaces. In addition, most kitchens have been fitted with a dishwasher, stone countertops, and new hardware. The bathrooms typically have the original colorful tiles, with a tub and shower stall. Bedrooms are very spacious and have large closets. The houses were built on large lots, which have plenty of space for outdoor entertaining and for kids to run around and play. They often have garages that have been at least partially finished, to provide extra hobby space.
The closest park is Memorial Park, located just outside the neighborhood’s official boundaries. The park has a large playground with climbing structures, slides, and swings. During the summer, the spray park is on, and kids and parents can have fun and cool off. There are some pathways that wind through the park, excellent for a walk or a jog. Tennis courts are open for residents to play a set or two. A recreation center is located in the park and has great basketball courts. It’s also a fun place to plan a party or picnic.
Penn Square Mall is just to the north. Go shopping for clothes at Dillard’s or Ross Dress for Less. There’s a Walmart SuperCenter for groceries and home goods. Plan a meal at the Cheesecake Factory or Whiskey Cake Kitchen and Bar.
